I have a 2002 Cherokee sport diesel . There is a small red light permantly on the dash it is to the right of the fuel gauge , can any body tell me what it is

 

That's a good question...

Unfortunately you'll find nobody else here knows either, this is because Chrysler renamed the KJ to the "Liberty" in North America. Try LostJeeps.com, they're mostly centered around the KJ platform.

 

my guess would be low fuel light. since you have less than a 1/4 tank, the light should come on to warn you.

 

Low fuel indicator seems logical, but aren't they usually a yellow/orange color ? Maybe running a diesel out of fuel is not good, so the light is RED !

well, there you have it. lol.

 

That's the one ....so do you know if it's a fault with the alarm system or something else ?

 

Its supposed to blink in assorted codes when your alarm is armed, disarmed. If its on solid, somethings amiss with the alarm system ...
check the batteries in the remotes, and so on. But it'll most likely end up being a dealer visit, to get them to scan the security system and find out whats up.
