Default Lifting and replacing shocks (Mod Help)

I have a 1997 jeep cherokee and I'm looking to do a little bit of work.

First I want to lift the back by putting a block in the back. I don't know much about lifting a jeep so I'm looking for some info on how to do this, and I'm looking to lift the back about 1.5". If there are some better options please let me know.

I also want to get new shocks and am unsure about what kind to get and the best place to shop, so any info on this would be great. I believe that the front is currently lifted 4.5" and back is lifted 3" (i measured from center of wheel to bottom of fender flare in front and back and were 22" front and 20" back).

If you have the time and want to go in great detail, or just attach a good guide, feel free, i can use all the help i can get.
