wheel backspacing (need help)

Default wheel backspacing (need help)

so im putting a full width axle in the rear of my xj its about 4 inches longer or so then the old one.. i can find out the exact measurements but i need to know how much backspacing my wheel will need to no stick out after the flare.. im gonna run 33 inch tires 12.50 wide on 15x8 wheels..does anyone know of a calculator out there that will figure this out for me.. i dont know much about wheels thanks in advance

If it's 4" wider than you need 2" deeper back spacing per side.

For example I think stock has like 5.25" back spacing (on some rims) so you'd need 7.5" to keep your front and rear at the same track width.

thanks man does anyone know where you can buy like black steel wheels but pick your backspacing? and is there a thing as too much backspacing is there a limit?

at this point it might be better to do a full width front. it may be hard to find some body to make those wheels. but try eaton

Most people run 3.75" or 4". It all depends on how much you want the tire to stick out.

yeah but my rear axle is now longer then the front so i think i need more backspacing then that

if you have an Americas tire near you they can order you some custom offset steel wheels but it will be a 2 week wait.
