Default lift and slip yoke question

I've just had a suspention 4.5'' lift put on my son's 98 XJ. I want to know if I need to install a sye , and if so is that all I need or do I have to change the drive shaft? My next one to lift is a 96 XJ (mine) so I also need to know if there is any differences.

if you have vibrations, then yes you will prob need a sye. if you do a sye then you will need a new driveshaft aswell. if you dont have vibrations then its nothing to worry about. you dont "need" it.

i have built quite a few cherokees and most w/o a sye. anything over 4.5'' you will probably need a sye.

you can do a sye for pretty cheap using a hack and tap style with a cherokee front driveshaft in the rear. you also need this adapter flange spicer part #211229x.(they came in some older ford cars) do a search, there is alot of info on this site as well as pirate4x4.com.

pm me if you have questions about the cheap sye...

I'd go with an Advance Adapters and Tom Woods driveshaft for the 98.

For me my problem wasn't the vibrations as much as it was the grinding of the driveshaft on deceleration.
