Default Lift Questions

Ok so say i want to do a 3 inch lift, add a leaf or spring pack (which one is better?) and then i want to do the 2 inch budget boost shackle spacer. Will this leave me a total of 5 inches of lift? Or would i be better off just buying a 4.5 inch lift kit? Thanks

I think sombody asked this about a month ago or so and the responce was that its better just to go with the 4.5 right off the bat. but if you go with the 3" full packs are probly better

Ok,now say i go with the 4.5 add a leaf kit, will it sag in the back or no? I just hate the way trucks look with the rear end sagging.

Just get the 4.5" kit and get new leaf packs..AAL with the long AAL will last longer then the short AAL but in the end you will get a better ride and performance with new leaf packs and it's the best bang for the buck IMHO..Also make sure you get a new adjustable track bar.. If you plan on any serious offroad time get some quick disconnects and I would go JKS for those. Also if you go rough country get the Nitro shock upgrade.

AAL's do sag, even the longer ones. Especially after the weight of a trailer hitch, roof rack, and a spare tire in the rack.

Will this setup sag in the rear? I want a decent lift for around 600 bucks with no sagging in the rear, has to be 3-4.5 inches of lift. That is what im looking for.

No matter how much lift you decide on get new leaf packs. My suggestion is to decide how much lift you want then get pricing and know how much cash you need.. Gonna be tough getting a 4.5" lift kit for $600...I know you could get a 3" lift kit for less then your price point of $600...that would include new shock, front and rear spings, and that's about it..So if you want to go higher you need to expand your budget a little to around $800 or so..

look at a 4.5" lift and all the parts that come with it

now look at a 3" lift plus 2" spacers and add in all the parts that the 4.5" kit includes that the 3" doesn't. and price out each part.

which is cheaper?

Default lift questions

How far can I go without having to sink serious money in the the jeep? I got a half build from my friend and it is sitting at 4. While bigger looks nice reliable is my goal.

If you want reliable then you are not talking too much about suspension. It either works or it doesn't. Reliable is all in the drivetrain IMO.

This is mostly true. Kits are cheaper, but sometimes you can get the right parts and piece it together cheaper than a kit. I prefer to spend a little bit more money and the parts that i know are proven and work well so i piece together my lifts.

For instance:

Jks adjustable trackbar: $150 ebay nearly new
Front Springs $100
Rear Springs $220
shackles: $56
Steering stabilizer $30
Shocks : $100
Shock extender bar pin eliminators: $26
Rear brake line: $20
SYE: FREE (from gf)

That's $702 and i'm at almost 5" lift with every major important component needed, except control arms. Those were taken care of using drop brackets which were a gift from GF.
