I have a 3in on now and i just want to go about another inch so i dont get into the SYE stuff. My question is, could i use my 3in shocks if i raise it about another inch? i know they are made for 3in of lift but i was wondering if i could use them because its my DD but every once in a while i go for a mountain ride and a money issue.

 

Anything over 3" and you run the risk of needing to upgrade other things.

The 3" should be fine, depending on who makes them. They'll maybe wear a bit faster, but you probably won't notice.
