Default Lift Question

I picked up an xj recently on 6'' lifts. the problem is that the lift in the rear is 4'' of wood blocks as lift blocks. I wanna fix this. Can I acheive the four inches by using a long add-a-leaf that adds 2''- 3'' and 2'' blocks?

You can get a JY set of leaves from a s10 and build a bastard pack that you can get 4 inches with, any kind of block is a bad thing. Use leaves and shackles to get the amount of lift that you want.

Weren't old Morgans wood frame cars? I think so. If it wasn't Morgan, it was someone else.

or you could get 4.5 full leaf packs and extended rear shackles but it all depends on cost

Insane, eh?

How many thousands of years ago did we think the universe revolved around the earth? What about when we thought the earth was flat?

And at one point it was a good idea to use wood as a frame.

IMHO the crazy thing is they are still producing "high performance" cars. With wood substructures.

In 2000, the Morgan Aero 8 was introduced and, as always, the wooden body substructure was ash. (Contrary to popular myth, however, the chassis is metal; aluminium for the Aero 8). The Aero 8, with a BMW V8 engine in a car weighing less than a BMW Z4 and considerably less than a BMW M3, (though more than traditional Morgans) is even faster than the Plus 8, delivering what Autoweek magazine termed supercar performance. The newest Aero 8 (Ser. IV) puts out 367 hp (274 kW) at 6100 rpm giving it a top speed of over 170 mph (270 km/h). Due to the Aero 8's light weight it can do 0–62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds.
During its customer production lifetime (2002-2009), the Aero was configured in five official versions, (I,II, III, IV and the Aero America) with variations in styling, engines, transmissions, braking and suspension. The Company canceled its production in 2009. It was followed by the Aeromax, a limited coupe edition of 100 units produced between 2008 and early 2010.
The year of highest production was 2002.
Pretty stout for a car with a wooden substructure.

Crazy, eh?

I saw one of the Aero 8s at a show years ago. Really interesting. It reminded me of the older cars from way back when. Almost in the way the new Mustangs remind me of the old '65s.

ok We are kinda getting off topic here!! Wood blocks! Holy crap, thats a whole new world of hillbilly! Blocks (cast not wood or aluminum) are ok temporarily until funds are available for the good stuff. Proper torque is always recommended, but the bastard stack is better than a block, and a cheap alternative to expensive replacement lift springs. Whatever you do just get the wood out and use it to start a bonfire. But I didnt know they still had a wood built anything on a vehicle anymore!!
