i was looking at rustys, and they have a BB for $99 that comes with 1.75" coil spacers, and full length AAL's, then i was just looking for the stuff seperate, and the coil spacers were $38, and short 1.5" AAL's were $39, im going to be towing a boat with my jeep, so i was wondering if it would be better to get the full length or if the short leafs will work so i dont have alot of sag in the back when i tow my boat. thanks

 

If you are going to get AAL get the full length ones.

 

are those stronger than the short ones?

 

its not necessarily that the long one is stronger or weaker than the short one. its more the fact that the short one will put more stress on the factory leafs and will cause them to weaken and sag from the extra stres on them. the longer AAL will better distribute the stress along the entire main leaf.
if you plan on towing your leaf pack will sag PERIOD. you will be ok for awhile maybe even a year or more depending on how often you tow and how much your trailer weighs. in the long run you will be much better off to just buy a full leaf pack.

 

i would like to buy the full pack, but i just dont wanna put that much money into this jeep, thats why i just wanna go with something thats cheap and give me a little bit of lift... but ill be towing a 17 foot fiberglass v-hull boat, so its not light, but its not extremely heavy

 

If you are going to tow and get AAL do yourself a favor and get a help spring kit. It won't add lift but will save your springs since they are worn out and the AAL will be worn out soon as well without em. Or you could just do it right and buy new leaf packs..

 

what all is in a help spring kit?

 

Doh meant helper spring..it basically will help keep the leafs from flattening out when under heavy load due to hawling heavy trailers like boats, rv's and so on..By the time you buy that and the AAL might as well buy new leaf packs. Honestly if you are going to tow AAL is a bad bad idea, even more bad then just a wheelin rig. The load of hauling a 17 ft boat will wear those leafs out fast.

 

i see... i just really dont wanna put alot of money into this jeep, because im planning on gettin a nicer one soon, so i just want to do a cheap small lift on it just to raise it a little bit... maybe ill just wait or somethin... but i figured an AAL would help the stock springs out a little bit... thats why i was considering it

 

If you have no plans of keeping the jeep then get the AAL and have fun. Now if you plan on keeping it in the long run new leaf packs would be a better option.
