Ok so I'm really sorry if this is a repost, the searchy thing isn't helping me find anything, so yeah. I am pretty new the the crawling scene, Went from my Porsche to a Jeep so its a different kind of realm, lol. But on a lot of lift kits I see for sale it would say CV driveshaft recommended and Slip Yoke... CV Driveshaft I understand...Don't know what a slip yoke is tho and How necessary are those things say for a 5" or 6.5" lift?

a stock transfer case has a slip yoke which means when the rear axle drops or rises the yoke on the driveshaft slides in and out of the transfer case. when you lift a jeep that high the drive shaft will stay about an inch out of the transfer case which lessens how much your rear end can drop before it falls out and leaks everywhere. so a SYE or slip yoke eliminator makes it to where the sliding part is eliminated from the yoke to the center of your cv drive shaft where it cannot slide apart. also if you blow out a u-joint you can remove your rear driveshaft and drive it in four high to be able to get somewhere to fix it .

 

a slip yoke eliminator will most likely be needed at 5" and would most definetaly be needed at 6.5. what year is your jeep? the older ones seem to get away higher w/o a SYE where the newer ones you would probably need one over 4.5"

Indeed. I'm thinking of going with the 6.5" Rough country. I have a set of 16" rubicon wheels that i'm going to have powder coated black.

 

thanks i tried! and jeepkitty the 6.5" lift from rc is really good thats what im running and i added 2" up front and 3" in the rear and i havent had any problems, just be prepared to get the extras like the SYE, and cv driveshaft, and the control arm drop kit which you can get off their site. plus things like extended brake lines, and i bought 10" wide rims just to cut down some on being top heavy.
