I want to put a lift kit on my 88 xj I use it for my dd and a little off roading. I eventually only wanna use it as an all around offroad rig. So my question is what lift should I put on it to accomplish my dd needs now and not have to upgrade my rig again later?

I'd recommend not going higher than a 4.5" lift and 32's for a DD, but you could always trim the fenders and slap on some 33's down the road with a D44 rear axle, and some body armor to make it a good all-around rig. I see you're fairly new here, but you might wanna check out this thread, it's got a lot of good info on it:

I was going to say the same... I am going with a 4.5" lift and 32's for now... and a little bit later on if I feel I need it I can always upgrade to 6.5" lift, or just go with some 33's and a little bit of trimming... But as mine is my DD I have to keep it street-able still...
