Default Lift kit help

Hey guys I am a new member of this website and I was wondering if I could get some help. I have a 99 xj I am thinking on a rough country lift 4.5 inch. I need info on this company and if I should look at different companies. Another thing is if i get a 4.5 inch lift would that be all I would need to get to keep my vehicle safe. In other words would I need to get anything besides my suspension kit, because I know when you get up to 6 and 7 inch lifts you need to add extra extensions and parts, would you need to do that for a 4.5 inch suspension kit? Never done this before so any knowledge that you have would help. Thanks

Google would be more info. You need to research alot more before diving off and just ordering a lift. What size tires will you be running are you going to cut fenders? What is the rig being built to do ? Anything over 3" and its $$$$$$$$$$.

Google is your friend brother.....

No one can tell you what you should get. Read about what others have done and form your own opinion. It is trial and error. What worked for one person, may not work for you.

My opinion............... If you don't plan on a whole lot of being off road and just want a nice looking XJ, you should probably stick in the 2 to 3 inch range. If you would like a nice lift and have some coin to spend, hit up Dirk at DPG Offroad and get an OME lift.

Found this, hope it helps

The slip-yoke eliminator does exactly what it says - it eliminates the "slip-yoke". The slip-yoke is between the drive pinion gear shaft yoke and the output shaft yoke, and is designed to slip and therefore create extra length in the drive shaft when the vehicle moves up and down on it's suspension. If a vehicle is lifted with higher springs etc, then the slip-yoke will become over-extended, and the two shafts will separate, and your engine will stop turning your wheels.

Hope that helped....also, some lifts kits come with a transfer case spacers, which lowers the transfer case. Mine did, it was a 4.5 inch kit from Rustys. Just me sure to look carefully and compare.

I'm also about to install a 4.5 lift, I've found out that I need adjustable lower control arms, upper adjustables would help too but I don't think they are necessary. Also, I needed an adjustable trac bar and extended brake lines. You may need a longer rear drive shaft, but if you use an sye kit you might be able to get away with using the stock one.

That and if you have a transfer case drop it eliminates some the severs angle created by the lift.

Would a transfer case drop be an addition to getting SYE's because the drop eliminates the angles.

I might get a tcase drop, but I think if you get a longer rear drive shaft and an sye you won't need the drop

True but the transfer case drop is so much more convenient and easier to install. Plus it comes with my kit from rustys that I'm thinking on ordering.

My kit was a Rustys. Never had an issue....you don't nessecarily need adjustable lowers and uppers...but theyre nice. I had the short arm kit. Did just fine with it.

Really this is all up to you
