Default Lift on the Cheap

New to the forum, bought a 96 Cherokee Country. I want to lift it to around 3" and was wondering whats the best way to go about it, on the cheap. Ive seen budget ift kits like Rocky Roads, but want cheaper! Ride comfort isnt an issue with me. And also I thought to myself, when you lift 3" what about the stock front shocks, how will they work?

The rear has a bit of sag so anything to counter it out is always good. I would also like to keep this kit as harmless as possible, I dont want to have to modify any other part of the suspension or driveline as a result. Got this thing for 600$, has 260k on it. IT RUNS FANTASTIC AND HAS ONLY 1 NICKLE SIZED SPOT OF RUST. I know however it wont last so I want to have some cheap fun with it understandably.

Budget is probably around 200-300ish.

TIA

V8 grand cherokee coils are good for a little lift and get an RE budget lift on top of that should get you close to 3 inches or so

The definitive BB for an XJ. Nothing better, nothing cheaper. You can run stock length shocks if you don't twist it up too much. BTW I've used the RE BB and done this to 3 other jeeps, this rides better and costs lots less. DO NOT put shackles on your stock springs, especially if they are sagging.

make a leaf pack from donor leaves out of a 1/4 ton pickup truck (comanche, s-10, dakota, etc) mated to your cherokee main leaf, will get you anywhere from 3 to 6", you can mix and match to get your desired ride height (2.5" wide springs only)

in front you could find some 3" coils for pretty cheap used, or some v-8 grand cherokee coils and spacers.

I would reccomend new shocks too, cheap shocks can be had, in the rear ford f-150 shocks will work with minor modification for 3-4" of lift.

for brakelines, yj brake hoses are a direct bolt in and perfect for a 3" lift. in front you could even get away with just straightening out the stock hardline.

Im familiar with the AAL and bigger springs. Where would I go about sourcing the necessary spacers for the V8 GC springs? And would I have to modify the front shocks some how? And if I were to get the F150 shocks, what year range and what modification would have to be made to that.

Ive done a RC 3" lift before on a buddies cherokee but it had the shocks in it. I guess getting the shocks front and rear to work is the only thing that confuses me. I gues I would need BPEs?

There is a company that makes shock adapters so you can use the regular style shocks.

OR:
New 3" coils - $100-120
s10 bastard pack - $50 or less
Used Stock JK wrangler shocks - $50 or less
Hardware - $40

And the s10 bastard pack will last longer than an AAL
