With the vacuum canister disconnected your heat will still get hot and blow, but with it disconnected you can't switch what vents the air comes out of. So, if you had de-ice selected when you disconnected your vacuum canister, you would never be able to select you dash vents or floor vents. The only other thing I know of for sure that disconnecting the canister will do is in a pre 92 XJ. That has the vacuum front axle disco. It makes the vacuum disco quit working. You don't have to worry about that though.

I just moved mine up into the engine bay after I installed my after market front battle bumper. I put it right behind the passenger side front wheel well. It fits like it was meant to go there.

Its actually effects a host of things.....
The heater control valve doesn't open correctly to even let the heater core get hot.
The heat won't stay in any position you select.. it goes to defrost and stays there.
If you have the vacuum disco.. that doesn't work Only benefit there is that if the Jeep was in 4wd.. it stays in 4wd.
The emissions system doesn't operate properly...
Cruise control won't work...
