I have a stock 97 and I put stock rims and 31" bfg's on it, ever since then I have this loud noise when I make a hard turn(it sounds like a rubbing/metal on metal sound(ex into a driveway)
Well I looked for the normal stuff, and it is not rubbing any body parts, but i did notice that the inside of the rim shows some "rub's"
I do know that the brake pad is very low on that side and I am getting ready to replace the brakes, could that have anything to do with it?
I took it off today and the only thing i can see is a small spot on the control arm??
Should i take some pictures
Thanks
Rich

I've never heard of anything going well putting anything bigger than a 235 under a stock XJ, they don't really fit. Might consider a 1.5 inch block and shackle kit to get a little more clearance, and maybe some backspacing.

Get the 2" from fat bobs garage (.com) they are legit, got mine a year ago and no probs at all.. They front are poly spacers that sit on top of springs and the rear are shackles that are extended downward. Ya don't have to worry about driveline or steering issues with the two inch, either.

Rough Country has a kit as well:

It's a little pricey for 1.5 inches but it comes complete with everything you need to do it right.

your new rubber is rubbing the control arms. you need to put on rims with les backspacing or some wheel spacers. a two inch lift might work but might still rub after the lift. mine did.
