Default LED bulb questions

I found led bulbs that plug in to our existing tail lights, turn signals, and running lights. I know that I will have to do other things to make them work without frying my electrical system.

What else will I have to put in in order to make LED bulbs work properly?

1989, I6 4.0

( I will find the link again and post in when I get back home)

Make sure you get the proper COLOR bulbs for each lens. Just popping in white LEDS all around will make brake and marker lights very DIM.

You will need to change your mechanical blinker for an electronic one. Other than that, you should be good to go.

Buy the correct ones and you won't have to do much of anything. My xj has LEDs in the dash, temp controls, shift indicators, domes, rear tail lights, rear turn signals, vanity lamps and an LED light bar on top. They use far less wattage, require much smaller wiring, put out very nice light depending on what ones you use and where and with a bit of luck last forever. As long as you don't use them for headlights or front turn signals you don't have to do anything with regards to them.

I use white LEDs in my rear turn signals and brake lights....again use good ones and they are brighter than incandescent lamps. Colored LEDs don't work well at all in colored lens fixtures.

That's exactly backwards.

For red lenses, you need red LEDs. For yellow lenses, you need yellow LEDs.

This link will explain the science behind it. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of physics.

Correct

I just converted mine. You will find a list of the bulbs I used at this link (post #9)...

All bulbs continue to work perfectly and are at least as bright or brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs while drawing 75%-90% fewer amps.
