Default learned something in JP today... just passing the word...
they said the 97-98 grand cherokee clutch fans grab better and flow more air then the other versions... so would be a good junkyard or autozone part if anyones having heat issues! just passing the word!

More noise too. Wouldn't the actual GC fan be a larger diameter than the XJ fan?

You wouldn't be using the entire fan assembly, just the clutch.

Shouldn't need a write up for it... it's physically the same size as your current one, just unbolt the old one, and bolt on the new one. Simple as that... the new fan clutch will do the rest of the work.

Is it really that bad? I mean, of all the possible noises known to come from the XJ, I would say a bit more fan noise for a little bit at first is worth a more efficient cooling system.

I didnt mean it like that, I wanted to read the reasons why its better. How is it flowing more air if its just the clutches? Does it just spin faster or what?

That I don't know. My guess would be that it engages more quickly and grabs harder making it slip less, thus more flow. Seems to be the only logical thing.
