Default Leaking coolant from somewhere, help.

after driving my 99 cherokee for a few miles and then cutting the engine, there will be coolant spitting and leaking out from my grill by the passenger side headlight. Also some steam. im not mechanically inclined and would like to know how big of a deal is this? thanks

It's probably the radiator leaking.

ive checked my coolant level and it still reads right at the full line. even though about 16oz-20oz of fluid has leaked out of it. shouldnt i need to add more coolant?

Even if that dumb bottle reads full I always pull the radiator cap and check the level in there. If you see steam and coolant spitting from near the headlight, the POS stock radiator's "plastic" tank on that side is leaking. This is a known problem with the OEM radiators. If you can afford it, you should look into getting an aftermarket 3 core radiator. I bought mine from CFS Radiator. It's all metal and it's 3 core and it fits right into the stock location with no problems.
