Default Leak problem

Ok my baby is leaking what i believe in tranny fluid but I might be wrong. The hose sits right on my sway bar. Can anyone tell me what hose that is so I can order it? It's an 88 xj just incase others are different. I've looked in the haynes manual and found nothing. Please help!

Automatic? This may be a tranny cooler line.trace it. In the automatics that I have had, every one of them had the right upper control arm travel up far enough to pinch the trans cooler line against the lip of the oil pan.. I gave up on automatics since haha.

Now that I look on the post again, it may also be power steering fluid..

No its the cooler line but i cant find a replacement. I dont know if its a pressure line or not so i dont really want to make one and have it blow up while we are trying to get it through inspections. Yeah the inspections over here are ridiculous, anything leaking is an automatic failure, if its seeping you have to argue and then they still fail you. SO, owning a XJ can be a very cumbersome thing to do at times.

Try to cut out the defective section with a brake line cutter.
Replace that section with a sufficient piece of fuel house and a couple of clamps.
The new lines are attainable, but expensive.. And after replacing the lines with new... They pinched again...easily.
Fuel line is a decent alternative.
If you give yourself enough slack, you can route them out of the way of the control arm travel, thus fixing a terrible engineering design.

Get yourself regular rubber tranny line at any auto parts store.Fuel line will work but will wear out quicker beacause of the heat, the tranny line is stronger and thicker you should be able to get I think 4 foot length's in a bag right by the tranny cooler's or whatever length from behind the counter good luck.

autozone sucks generally, but one thing they do that is worth while, is sell hose in bulk by the foot.

Yea don't even waste your time on factory replacement lines for the tranny cooler... they are between $200 and $300.

Really I think everyone knows that, but generally that or something similar is what most people will go to it seems they like to buy cheap chinese parts. I would use Napa myself if I had to, but I'm lucky, a couple of my buddys each own a garage so I use them.

Napa's hours just suck. I'm usually working on my Jeep after work, which is when they are closed.

If i had the chance to go to either AutoZone, Napa, Checkers or any other parts store i would. Do you know how hard it is to explain that you need a part to modify you 88 American made Jeep to a German parts store. They just keep asking me for my registration so they can search the VIN...... Thanks for your help guys, i have extra fuel line and i should have some tranny line laying around somewhere, if not i am sure i can score some around here.
