Do you hear banjos?
Valve cover gasket replacement is very easy. No sweat, the FMS may be a little tougher. I have never done one, but I'm sure someone around here has, and will help ya out!! Good luck!!

I just got the jeep and havent gone wheeling yet, so im not sure if it has been wheeled hard. although im pretty sure it hasnt, also im fairly sure its the front main seal since the engine doesnt smoke and burn oil. how would i go about repairing the front main seal?

Valve Cover Gasket = Cake on the 4.0L. Seriously had it off in 10 minutes (dropped my socket, had to go find my magnet-on-a-stick). Took a little longer to get it back together since you have to clean the mating surfaces so it won't leak again.
The valve cover gasket won't cause the engine to smoke or burn oil (although you may get some smoke under the hood). If the side, front, or back of the block is coated in a thick oily grime... it's probably the valve cover gasket.

Front main seal is behind the crankshaft sprocket in the timing chain cover if I'm not mistaken... Its a fairly large project, but can be done... I'd get some UV dye first and add it to the oil run it for a few days then look at it under a black light to confirm its location...
