Unhappy Leaf spring help

Okay guys I have a stock XJ which im looking to lift w/ the RC AAL in the near future. My question is not about the lift but my current set up. I took my rear wheel off today and one of my leaf spring clamps is totally broken in half. I could see that my springs are pulling apart when under a load. (I put the bottle jack under the axle tube) they are seperatating. My question is this. I s this safe to run with? I want to do my AAL soon so i would get new clamps. How soon should I fix this?

you might be able to get away with getting a new clamp when you do the AAL. but for best results IMO, get new leaf packs. snap some pics of the broken clamp and the severity of the separating so people will have a better idea of how they are.

Just get new spring clamps.. All AAL kits come with new clamps anyways. You don't need new packs granted that's ideal but you can do new clamps and anytime you bust a pack to add a leaf you should replace the clamps and center pins anyways. How long till you get the lift?

How man u spring clamps do you have on the leafs? I forget on stock..I was thinking 1 up front and 2 in the rear..If you have 2 in the rear of the leaf pack you might be ok without one of them.

I think there are 2 up front and one out back im not sure tho

Im not sure on the lift time depends on this situation it could be VERY soon cause i dont want to hit a bump and my rear end explode cause if one of those things broke the other ones have got to be close to breaking also

I wouldn't be worried about this as long as your center pins are tight. You MAY be able to get a 7/16" deep socket in there at the U-bolt spring pad plate, to see if you can tighten it up. Big truck shops sell those center pins. There's two different size thread shaft diameters, and the XJ springs are the smaller of the two. I'm not 100% positive, but I want to say that it's 5/16"

Also make sure that the 18MM nuts on the U-bolts are as tight as you can get them.

I don't think it's anything to worry about.
