Default Leaf Spring Bolt Stuck

my bolt got seized and broken inside the leaf spring so i sawed both sides of the bolt off and now i’m wondering how i can get the bolt out? the nut is still welded on the frame, and i tried a screw remover but there isn’t any space for it so now i’m wondering how i can get it out.

You can either use long drill bits to drill the bolt out (then clean up the threads with a tap). Or... you could probably use a long punch to punch what is left of the bolt, and the welded nut off the bracket and hope to pull it all out through the inspection hole you created (hopefully the hole is large enough). Then use a fresh nut for the new bolt when putting the spring back on. You can tack weld the new nut back in place if you want, or drive it somewhere and have someone help with that. They could probably weld your inspection hole back together at the same time, if you desired.

Get a large nut and weld it to the stub. Then crank it out with a wrench

Note for next time - don't expect the leaf spring bolts to come out without the help of a torch. They come from the factory with red Loctite on the threads. It's not ever supposed to let go unless you heat it.

I had that happen on a rig once and what I did was fabricate up a ring out of something like 3/8" round bar stock and welded it to the bolt. That did two things:

1) Gave a location I could put a long pry bar into and pry

2) The heating process (from welding on the ring) loosened up some of the rust that was keeping it seized in.

I was able to pull it out. But my vehicle had a frame. If you have access to a welder, you might give it a try.
