Is there a diff between LCA's with a bent in them and LCA's that are straight?
I know that its best to have the control arms be near parallel to the ground, so, do the bent LCAs make up for the diff?

The ones with teh bend in the are from a WJ and there stronger. That's about it.. Plus they give you clearance to us stock wheels with wider tires..

vs. a straight aftermarket control arm

brands aside, I know nobody is gonna rep the rustys over RE. these are just examples of bent and straight LCAs

OK I was thinking stock.

And I would buy the Rusty's one's before the RE. I've used both and the Rusty's lasted longer with better ride. The RE are known for having bushing issues, there a none factory shape..

The reason for them is to allow for more Droop in the suspension...

The goal of the angled LCA's is to lower the angle they sit in proportion to the axle..To try and get a better ride out of them.

i dont think the bend has anything to do with the ride quality. its the angle from the LCA axle bolt to LCA frame bolt. you want these two bolts to be on the same plane, or paralell if possible. drop brackets make your arms straight like they are on a stock xj. i run the drop brackets and arms are parallel and ride is far superior than any short arm kit out there and im at 5" too.

think of an aftermarket trackbar and how it has a "Z" bend in it. that has nothing to do with being paralell with the draglink. what counts is the angle from the pitman arm tie rod to the axle end bolt.

if im wrong, then ban me but thats how i see it.

Rough Country has bent ones as well. They also have the adjustable LCA and UCA which are amazing. My friend runs then on his MJ

Ya know I haven't fully decided but either RE, RC and have even considered Rustys..Wish I could afford a set of Curries...mmmm I will compare the costs to going Long Arm and if Long Arm is about the same I will likely just go that route..and just add another inch to the lift..

You are 100% correct.
The bend is so the control arm has more clearence from the lower shock mount. Without the bend, typically, the control arm will hit the shock mount and will the the limiting factor in axle droop.
RE runs the tube into the bottom the of the bushing housing to provide the clearence.

bolt centerline to bolt centerline is where the forces are going, and the height difference between them is what will effect ride characteristics...

like said, the bend has absolutely nothing to do with ride quality.

anyway

i vote re over rustys

i have seen more rustys failures on speed bumps than re failures offroad
