Late 96 XJ owner here experiencing my windshield fogging up on the passenger side. I have yet to notice any wet carpet, but the faint odor of coolant has been detected. My question is what model or part number should I be looking for? I am always getting the wrong year parts; some parts are for 96 and before and some parts are 97 and after. Are there any knowledgeable folks that can keep me from ordering the wrong model and not figuring it out until after I have the dash torn apart? And a maker and part number would surely be appreciated for a decent quality option. Thanks for reading!!

 

Buy a 96 and 97, and return the one you dont need. But, being a late 96, my guess is you need one for a 97 if they are infact different. I dont know. I never compared them.

Just checked Rockauto and they list Spectra 93024 (aluminum) for 95, 96, 97, and 98. And Spectra 94732 (copper/brass) for 95 and 96, but not 97+, for some reason.

 

downloading the Factory Parts Manual is the best way to be sure, but iI would say that the '96 being a "pre-update" dash, they would have the pre-update heater core, if indeed they are not the same part num
