My daughter drives my ole '96XJ. Cat Converter is shot and rumbling like bucket full of gravel. Did some poking around here via search and read that it may be covered by recall. Went to the Jeep web site, found the info and made a call. Low and behold... it is. Despite the Cherokee being over 20 years old and the recall over 10, replacement of the cat converter and the reprograming is being covered 100% at my local dealer. I was prepared to tear into it myself this weekend but instead get to let the dealership handle it. Shocked!

Good to hear about.
The dealers do not like having to do a recall on older vehicles but it is required of them to follow through by Chrysler.
Due to a recall, I had the factory hitch installed on my 2000 WJ for free, and got a $100 Visa card for my trouble.

This recall was issued in 2006. So past the normal deadline of 10 years but they are still doing it... or say the they will. My local Jeep dealer is not the easiest to work with and they way over chare in my experience. I was very surprised they said that they'd do it and it's 100% covered. Now we'll just have to see if the actually follow up and do it. Parts are 'on order'.

If they want to continue selling Chrysler vehicles than it is mandatory that any recall brought in to their dealership be fulfilled.
