I just started getting a knocking sound coming from (what seems to be) my right front wheel. It knocks on every revolution of the wheel, as the vehicle speeds up the knock speeds up. It gets a little quieter when the brakes are applied.

I have not looked into it with any effort yet. Anyone ever heard or seen this before?

Thought maybe a bad hub. I think it started after going down a rough dirt road. Could it be just a rock caught in there?

Without the jeep in front of me there is no way to tell you what is wrong with it.

 

Thanks, I would think a hub would be more of a grinding noise rather than a knocking noise. Just thought someone may know where to start.

 

U joint or axle shaft is my guess.

 

I have the same problem from the rear. Only happens when car is in gear. If I put in neutral it makes no sound. Also only when car is on ground. Had car on lift and put in gear and could not hear sound at all..
