kind of lost right now. someone help please
hey everyone, been searchin for a while on the forums here, i had a problem with my XJ, its a 95 with the 4.0. had a stalling issue that was cleared up from a distributor change/new CPS, then shortly after the fuel pump took a crap on me so i replaced that, then the filter was changed within a day after that. so along with plugs wires cap and rotor, almost the entire fuel/ignition system has been replaced with routine maintenance items. at this point now i rev the motor to full tilt and it gets to 3500 rpm and just stutters there and wont go any further. upon further investigation i found that the return inlet has separated from the mounting plate for the fuel pump (the part that the lock ring and seal press against) cannot find them anywhere in any other form besides full assemblies, as i replaced the pump i do not want to replace the pump again and waste the $120 it costed me. any suggestions? IE can i simply take it out and remove all gasoline from it and tack it back on? thanks in advance :-P

well i was gonna try jb but a few that ive talked to said jb will never seal it properly because it will be in constant contact with gasoline. i didnt think that it could hurt to try though.

went out this morning to start it and run it....no go. cranks and cranks and cranks but wont start, i can hear it steadily trying to start when i hold my foot to the floor. also have driven accidentally with the gas cap completely off in the past and ran mildly rough at idle but still ran. could a leak at that mounting plate really cause this much trouble or does it seem like i have another issue?
