Default keyless remote issues

i have a 2001 cherokee that i purchased used. i called the dealer and confirmed that the vin# showed the jeep had the keyless remote system. i purchased two remotes off ebay for $15 each vs $81 the dealer wanted. went to the dealer and had them programmed to the car. each remote worked for about two days and then they both stopped working. they will not lock, unlock or panic. i put new batteries in both remotes before they were programmed.

obvioulsly i can go back to the dealer and have them reset, but what would cause this?

I had one when I first bought my XJ. It started to work randomly after I had it about two years. I took it off the key ring, and tossed it in the back of the Jeep. I found it the other day, under the back seat. I hit the button, and it worked. I threw it back under the seat. I have been useing the key for so long ( 6 years ) that I just don't need it any more. It was the first vehicle I owned that had one.

Does the driver side door still lock all the other doors? Mine didn't and my remote didn't either and it turned out to be sone broken wires in the door boot between the car and door. After I soddered the wires back together the remote and driver door locks worked.
