Default Keyless entry not communicating with door modules?

First off just for clarity I have a 97' Cherokee with overhead console. I finally got another keyless entry remote after losing mine about 2 years ago. I took the remote to the dealership to get it programed, and this is what they said:
"Scanner would not communicate with either door module. Would need further diagnosis to find out why modules are not communicating."

Seriously I'm so confused. Are they referring to communication with the SINGLE module located in the overhead console? Also, my power locks, doors, and all functions of the overhead console are working perfectly, what could cause this lack of communication with the dealership scanner? Thanks for your time everyone. Evan

Also, I just wanted to add that I've had my door panels and headliner/overhead console off numerous times and am very familiar with what is there...which I why the "door modules" is so confusing to me. If they are referring to the "module" that consists of the windows/locks switches, I don't see how this could effect the keyless entry. If my overhead console is fried and THAT is why there is no communication with the key fob, then why is it perfectly functional?

Maybe I should just get an after market alarm...the brick of a key fob from the factory circa 1997 is pretty awful looking.

Some models had the RKE receiver in the passenger's door module. Your's doesn't. I don't know what the heck they did.

Thanks for the info. I may just try taking it to another dealership and see what they come up with. I don't really care to spend xx $100 for a dealership to rip apart my interior and wiring harness to make my keyless entry work.

Default 96 grannd cherokee interface 455tw keyless

I have a 96 grand cherokee 5.2. I just had a new avital (4103) remote starter put in. I want to hook up the keyless entry and had to buy a seperate module (455tw dei). The directions for connecting the module wires to the avital wires are terrible. Does anyone know the exact hookup? also what wire is positive and what is negative on the (ccd bus 2 twisted wires) Do all the wires need to be hooked up on the 455tw. I want ALL doors to open, not just the driver door. let me know, thank you.
