Default keyless entry or no keyless entry?

Ok, I have a problem and Im very confused. I bought a 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport. I was interested in a keyless entry system for it but wanted to make sure it didn't come with a factory one. So, I requested a build sheet and among the list of factory features was "GXMP Remote Keyless Entry." So I bought a remote and took it to the Jeep Dealership to have it programed. The machine they hooked to wasn't showing that it had the keyless entry system. Is there anything that could have gone bad that would cause it to not read the keyless system, or is the build sheet just incorrect? The mechanic said something about the body control module but I haven't a clue. Any Ideas?

do you have a piece of plastic in between your sun visors. if you do remove the two screws and see if you have a computer looking chip. if you have one there you have keyless entry.

call around to locksmiths in your area and see if they can program your remote.

My 98 has keyless entry. There's nothing between my visors though.

There is nothing between the visors. But I did some digging on google and as it turns out my rke module is in the dome light housing. So I do have keyless entry after all. Could a fuse cause the rke to not show up, or should I try replacing the module to see if that fixes it? Has anyone else had any similar issues?

before buying modules i would look up a wiring diagram and see if theres a relay or fuse that runs it.

Old thread, I know, but I'm having exactly the same issue. Any chance you ever worked out what was wrong?
