Default Key FOB not locking/unlocking doors

Started as an intermittent issue, but pressing lock/unlock wouldn't work even though it did make a clicking noise for a while. Just replaced the passenger side switch with a new one from Switch Doctor and replaced the batteries in the key FOB, but no luck. Pressing lock/unlock with the FOB doesn't seem to do anything now. Can lock and unlock manually using the buttons on either the driver or passenger doors just fine, though.

Also, I did recently replace the dome light piece with one from a donor (mine was busted, and missing the plastic covers since I bought it last year). I'm now reading that this is where the keyless entry receiver is located, so I'm wondering if I screwed myself by just chucking the old one. Any chance that that is the issue here? And if so, how should I go about getting everything synced up and working again?

If you replaced the domelight and the board in it, your done. The board is the keyless entry part and needs to be synced to the fobs. Start calling local dealers and see if anyone local can still do it.

On one hand, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. Nuts. On the other hand, at least I can stop messing with it now and know how to go about getting it resolved. Thanks!

There is a guy o the internet, i think ebay...he sells you the overhead board and 2 matched key fobs for around 100 bucks-ish. Did it to mine a few years back...no issues

I fitted an aftermarket system from eBay, very inexpensive, you just wire it in,

mounted mine in the original cavity, works from much further away than the original system

Like AWG, I got a cheapo aftermarket one with all sorts of options. I only connected the door locks and corner lights (so they flash).
