I have my short block on TDC now. I still need to tighten the flywheel to torque convertor bolts.
Can I drop the cam sensor in now while its on TDC, then spin it to tighten those bolts and have it be ok?
Or do I need to make sure to return in to TDC, then drop in the cam sensor? How would I be able to do that... is it ONE revolution around with the harm balancer?
(Note the head is NOT on the block yet)

I'm assuming you have the cam sensor out of the block from what your OP is saying.
Why?
Can you put it back in for now?
Alternatively you could just tighten the converter bolts and very easily return it to TDC as there is no head. You can see #1 piston quite easily AND both lifters.

Yes the cam sensor is out right now.
I lined up the marks like this

And then put the cover on and then installed the harm balancer. The balancer notch aligned right on 0 on the timing cover.
Then I dropped in the engine..... what should I do next?? Hope I'm doing this all right..

You are doing this right so far. Is there a reason you don't want to install the cam sensor before tightening the converter bolts?
Most of us would have installed the head and cam sensor before putting the engine back into the Jeep. Lifting the head up and installing it is MUCH easier when it is on an engine stand.

I put only the block in so I could put in the upper housing bolts easier... just doing the reverse of how I took it out.

By doing the sensor first, you can move the crank all you want and it won't affect anything else your doing.
I hear you on the top bellhousing bolts. Did you replace them with ordinary hex head bolts or did you put the Torx back in?

Ok. So should I install the head first and then the cam sensor?

Just go install the cam sensor! LOL done end of story no need to do anything else to it again except connect wiring harness. Your way overthinking this. Or are you really at work and bored right now?

There are countless web pages and YouTube videos that will tell you how to do that. If there is one from bleepinjeep.com just try to ignore the guys voice and sense of humor.

I personally like to keep reseating it at different teeth after every failed start until it starts. It won't take more than 180 attempts tops.
