Just picked up an 88 Laredo, Auto, 4wd. What should I do to get it up and going?

Default Just picked up an 88 Laredo, Auto, 4wd. What should I do to get it up and going?

Hi everyone. Just bought my first Jeep. Got her for $1400 with 112k on it. Not in bad shape at all given the year. Ran great on the hour drive home with it. Everything seems to work other than the cruise and AC. Found out what a death wobble was on the drive home every time I smacked a pothole on the highway with my passenger side front tire... that was cool (and terrifying). Title says last time odometer was read was in 92 and it had 56k on it so it seems like it's been pretty much parked since then.

Parts I got ordered.

New track bar
Upper/lower ball joints for the passenger side (Drivers were good, passengers were shot)
4 New shocks all the way around (thing rocked back and forth like it was parked on the ocean when I pulled down on it)
Left and right outer tie rod ends
All new vacuum harnesses and CCV hose to fix the oil in the air filter issue

I'm hoping with those parts that my death wobble issue gets solved.

What else should I do to get it all ready to go? You guys are the experts. Not sure when all the maintenance was done last.

Drivers side BJ have been there the same length of time & miles, might as well do those too. Control arm bushings all the way around would not hurt either.

Ya you're right about the ball joints. I'm just slightly strapped for cash (like everyone else) so just tryin to do what I feel is absolutely necessary at the moment. I may just go ahead and get them though because you're right, might as well do it all at once.

About the CA bushings. Sorry for being a noob but how many should there be? I'm guessing there are 2 control arms and then an upper and lower bushing for each so that would make 4 total? I'm probably wrong here so please correct me, if so.

Ok so after a bit of research I think I learned that there's a right and left upper CA and a right and left lower CA. 4 control arms total? So I'm assuming that makes 8 total bushings? Or was I right the first time? Can you tell I've never done alot of suspension work? lol

Anyone have a recommendation for bushings to get to replace them in my stock control arms? Or will whatever oreillys/autozone/advance have work?

Engine oil, tranny oil, transfer case oil, diff oil, rear end oil. Inspect all drained fluids for discolor/contamination. Check radiator fluid, green, not brownish or milky. Pull plugs, inspect. Ignition tune up. Air filter. Clean out throttle body and idle air control and any other sensors you find. Maybe run some lucas fuel injector cleaner or marvel mystery oil or something.

Inspect all u-joints and driveline/propellor shaft components.

Oh, and welcome to the addiction. If anyone driving a wrangler asks you why you bought a Cherokee (XJ) our makes fun of it, just remind them that Barbie drives a wrangler.

Damn that's alot of fluid changin ha. I'm pickin up everything you're putting down except for "ignition tuneup". What does that entail?

Oh, and thanks forthe welcome and LOL about the barbie cars. Suddenly I don't feel so bad about not having a Wrangler haha

Ignition tune-up: spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and a packet of dielectric grease. Did I mention to grab a factory service manual? Private message me if you're interested and a little computer savvy.
