Just got my 91 xj
Got it for 500 bucks, has 177000 miles on it, limited edition, runs and needs a little work.
I want to change all of the fluids I can so is there anything I am missing besides oil change, trans fluid change, t-case fluid change, diff fluid change, and coolant change? (is there any difference between a change and a flush?)
Also the guy said it needs new hubs, which the only I know about them is that it has something to do with the 4 x 4. Can someone fill me in a little on that?

You need to change the fluids you mentioned and you can flush the cooling system but NEVER flush the tranny, no matter what anyone says.
The front hubs are indeed part of the 4WD system. They are like wheel bearings but are a sealed unit, thus they are refered to as "unit bearings" and should be replaced as a pair, left and right. Get your fluids changed and I think there is a write up in our tech section that if you can't find then let us know and we will walk you through it.

I'd say you made a good score. I bought my 91 XJ Sport 4 years ago with 185K miles and I paid $2600. It was stock as a stove but, in immaculate condition.

Yes, change all the fluids you mentioned above. Also, take a look underneath. If this jeep hasn't had much love in it's life then it most likely needs a valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and a new rear seal. After you flush and refill the cooling system, pressure test it. The XJ is notorious for developing overheating issues.
Do a full tune-up. Swap out the spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, air filter, fuel filter and put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in with your next fill up.

O wow, thanks for the quick replies everyone!
Yeah, the guy told me it had an oil leak so I was thinking about those in the back of my mind. Would a new valve cover gasket help stop this leak too?
I remember reading somewhere that some cherokees have in-tank fuel filters, and you shouldn't change them until the fuel pump goes. Does anyone know if mine would be in-tank?
oil pan gasket and a new rear seal

When I bought my 91, I replaced the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and rear seal, first thing. It was leaking out of all of the above. Your 91 XJ has the external fuel filter. You will find it inboard of the framerail on the driver's side just above and a little behind the rear axle.

Your jeep has an external filter. It is on the driver side frame rail just in fromt of the tire. a bolt and a couple of hose clamps is all it is to remove and replace it.
