Junkyards vs Craigslist
Well, my local JY sucks. They have one Xj that has been thoroughly raped and everything is overpriced. Went there to check out some stock wheels(put an extra set together) and they show me some peeling, clapped out Canyons @ $50 a piece. I'm thinking I can get soft 8s delivered for that. So I start lurking around craigslist....waiting.....searching.....and bingo! Found a set of decent canyons to strip and paint for $80. Call the email the dude and offer $60. He counter offers $40. Sweeet. Some cigarettes, coffee, Mancow, and 2hrs of driving. Well worth it. You can't touch 1 wheel on Ebay for less than $80. So, I am gonna stick to Craigslist. Anyone else have similar JY experiences? Heres a web pic of the canyons. I think this wheel will look good all black w/ some 31x10.5 Treadwrites!

Craigslist ALL THE WAY!
The junkyards near me are crappy...One had ONE XJ, and it had a set of towhook brackets I wanted, but the dude woulldn't just sell me the brackets, I had to buy the bumper, too. (I already had a replacement bumper and hooks ready to go.) $70 for a bumper, towhooks and tow hook brackets. Lucky I was able to get some money back by selling the hooks and bumper, but still paid too damn much.
The junkyard XJ had a D44 in it, too, but they wanted crazy money for it.
OTOH, on craigslist a few weeks back, I got a set of FIVE Grizzly rims, 1 with BRAND NEW spare Goodyear AT, 4 with 50% tread Goodyear AT's...all for for $150.
The next day, I found a fellow Jeeper on CL who was looking for some tires...I tried to give him my usable old-style alloys and tires, but he insisted on giving me $20 for them..I just wanted them to be gone, figured I'd pay it forward, but it was a win-win.
I also found a pair of almost-new S-10 leaf springs on CL for $20, a pair of ZJ V8 front springs for $20...and a few other things, too....and I didn't have to pull them!
I don't plan on going back to my local junkyards anytime soon...Craigslist ROCKS!

Im a craigslist shopper for sure. Theres always good deals on there for parts. Sometimes there seems to be waves where for a week or two there is hardly anything and then the next day bam theres is a jackpot of parts. Cragslist ftw.

Im not sure how this price was from my local junkyard.... I went to the yard and found 2 cherokees in their yard and i pulled a neutral safety switch from a 95 cherokee for my 94 cherokee. I got it out went to the desk and i was quoted 70 dollars for it, paid it walked and.... I was wondering if i got ripped off or if this was a reasonable price. I might try craigs list from now on thanks for the advice..

Yeah, I hear of these Jy's in other states that have XJ's w/ lift kits and other goodies. There is a Jy towards Chitown, but I would probably pay Chitown prices I agree on goods coming in waves. That is how I found my wheels......patience young grasshoppa!

I love craigslist. I got two 15 inch wheels from an XJ for $15, both are in good condition (not bent), and allowed me to have a full-size spare.
I was also able to sell my old tail lights on craigslist for $30, not bad!
