Well I bought my first XJ on CL (just this weekend...). I am looking at a set of Canyon rims myself- complete with 30X9.5 tires at a claimed 90% (we'll see). Asking price of $250...

There is also a Pro-Comp 3" lift I want on CL but the guy is asking more for it than E(vil)-bay by about $150!

i like junkyards cause you can practice/find the best way to remove and install stuff without breaking your junk. Craiglist is nice cause you dont get dirty getting the part.

Also at a junkyard, you can grab a bunch of little stuff, throw them up on the corner, and usually get a very good deal. The JYs by me are ok.

Main reason I like junkyards is seeing the cars that got into accidents. Cars that got into a fight with a pole and lost. Those are pretty amusing.

Nice score Destro! If you plan on painting your wheels, I suggest this stuff in an aerosol can called aircraft coating remover. It works awesome, I sprayed a spot and it took off the clearcoat down to the aluminum in less than a minute. Sorry to go off subject.

good jys are hard to find, but its really frustrating when you find something on CL and its still 200 miles away, but exactly what you want. Still use graigs list more than the jy cause I haven't found one with a decent amount of xjs that let in you in to take the parts off.

I like to visit the craigslist directories and find the best dealers which deals with the car parts near my location. I had always get the best deal through the auto craigslist directories

X3!

I tried that place in Scarborough -- they wanted $25 to pull a hood latch for me (one bolt). And wanted another $20 for the part. They wouldn't let me in the yard at all. No good for me.

I found the part here on CF actually -- a fine CF member mailed one to me for somewhere around 10 bucks I think it was.

As for craigslist -- the best way to go if you're patient. You can also post in the 'wanted' section but that's probably a long-long-shot.

The local Pull and Save here (some people in Eastern Washington may know the same one) has about 4-5 XJ's every time I'm there. Weekend before last I saw one with a factory rear mounted tire carrier. I want it so bad. And CL here has some good stuff on it also so I think it depends what your looking for both have pros and cons.

The picapart here in vegas is pretty cheap and they have at least 30-40 jeeps at all times, then again they have hundreds of cars and most of them get stripped and replaced every week.
Full trans usually costs 267 dollars and has a thirty day warranty, same warrnaty with a transfer case but the price is cloase to two hundred.
doors usually run around 35-50 and hoods from 45-60
