what year jk shocks can i use for my xj? does it matter id if its a 2dr or 4dr?

It doesn't matter, either year or how many doors, so far as I know. As long as it is a JK and you have somewhere between 2 and 4" of lift on your XJ. You will have the press out the lower bushing sleeves on the rears, and press in the bar pins on the fronts (unless you have bpe's already).
