So will a set of the JK arms work for an XJ with a 6.5 lift? I'm seeing the needed length for that lift is lower - 17'', upper 15 1/2'', is that about right? If they will work, how much do they run used roughly?

that could possibly work but you will need adj upper control arms too. I have the jk RUCA on my jz which is the same as an xj almost. I am @ 4.5" in the front. It moved my front axle forward a bit which may not be an issue for your height. I think that might be too much lift with too steep of angles on short arms and i would look into long arms at that height, I wish i had them @ my height.

I can speak from 2yrs experience here you definately need adjustable uppers using the jk ruca's w/o them in front w/ 4.5 lift I had a caster of 14 iirc which just wasn't good and even getting adjustable uca it moves the axle forward enough to cause rubbing problems factory bumper needs cut, charcoal box needs turned, and some sheet metal trimming behind the bumper with 32's.
the rear is less of a problem I'm at 5 1/4 lift in the rear. the shop said they could hear rear pinion noise when running the stock uppers and the Jk's on the lowers. it will point your pinion downward and I have been running it that way. although I have the adjustment uppers but not installed.

washboard roads sound like my zj is going to rattle appart with the steep control arm angle.

my advise is save for the la kit and do it right and skip the jk control arm BS.

i would like to add that WJ front uppers are a tad longer for XJ.
i bought them to use for that, front uppers.
and then also use the JK rear uppers for the front lower control arms...clear as mud.
should measure out perfect with no problems at 4". my front bumper/fender is hacked and trimmed up

One thing I have noticed on my zj, is with the axle pushed forward on 4" of lift the Track bar is hitting the front differential cover and wearing down one of the bolts and the cover. If you are considering putting the JK rear upper control arms on the front lower you should have more lift than 4" and yes you will need to add some washers since the ends are a bit narrow.
