Default Jerry Cans

Okay guys, bear with me. I'm not trying to be lazy, but everything I've seen about my problem is NOT what I want to do. I just got two Jerry cans (w/brackets) and am wondering where to mount them. I cannot afford a rear bumper with a tire swing. I was thinking of up on a roof rack made out of 2x4's (can't really afford a rack either) or on a hitch basket. Any thoughts would be helpful.

If you need them that bad than put them in the cargo area and crack a window. If you are trying to look cool by carting around jerry cans than the 2x4 roof rack is really going to take away from that image...

sorry, the sarcasm made me forget my real answere. Go with the hitch basket. Harbor fright has an aluminum one for like 100 bucks. Super useful for our limited cargo area jeeps.

Are you actually carrying fuel or just showing off the cans? Save up you money to mount them on back. On top is Ghey, inside, dumb. That being said if your wheeling and need the fuel that bad then put it inside. Otherwise Save up and make jeeps look good while being practicals. A hitch rack will only hurt Offroad.

I am actually going to be carrying fuel. My gas gauge is messed up so I'm gonna want the extra gas. I think I will go with the hitch basket. I'm not too worried about it getting in the way off road, because where I live, the most difficult trails are two-tracks and powerline roads.

Where do you guys get pour spouts and seals for jerry cans? These ones are like 20 years old and have neither.
