Jerk!
That's what it does! 96' 4.0 a/t. It doesn't stall or backfire or miss. It's done this for a year and i can't find it. I'll be driving at all/any speed and it will just jerk like a momentary stall. It may go 2-3 days and not do it then do it 3 times in one day. Like a backfire BUT ther is no backfire. Any ideas? Outside of this she runs perfect.
Thanks,
Don

Have the alt tested but also check the TPS. This can be a symptom of a failing TPS. When you first start up in the AM does if feel like it wants to stumble a litte until it warms up and the you get the jerking feeling at highway speeds?

Mine did this for awhile... CPS crankshaft position sensor.
They make some weird faults. I fixed mine by just unplugging it and then plugging it back it. Mine would jerk at different speeds all the time. And ofcourse somedays it wouldn't do it at all.
If this fixes it temporarily then you will need to invest in a new CPS at some point.

I've seen the crank sensor act like this when they are just beginning to fail.
And that kills ignition and fuel to the injector.
I would remove the connector to it (on bellhousing), spray the connector clean with electrical contact cleaner (available anywhere). Add a small dab of dielectric grease to the connector and reconnect.
It isn't unheard of to have debris/resistance in this connector. But it could very well be the sensor itself.
