Default Jeeps heating up

My jeep runs kinda hot. I use it for work, and it see's about 1-2 hours of idle time a day. Today it was upper 70's here, and it stayed over 210*, e-fan just kept turning on and off. When I would drive a couple miles it would dip below 210 and stay there, till I went driveway to driveway again.Thinking my fan clutch isn't working. When I start it in the morning you can here it. but as the jeep heats up I think it quits.
I'm thinking about a flowKooler water pump, and a 180 t-stat. Some one was talking about a HD ZJ fan clutch? Any info on this? Any one use one? Have a part #?

Water pump wouldnt hurt but I would replace your fan clutch first. I am not familiar with the other upgrades so I cant help you there. Have you flushed your system in a while??

Not yet. Just picked it up last week. It needs just about all the stuff gone though. It's got 107,000 on her and she is all original. Just did plugs, and put EV6 injectors in it. Changed every fluid except the rad. Figured I'd wait because it looks like she could use a water pump. Figured I'd replace all the hoses and stuff to.

Some guys on JF used a Hayden 2791 severe duty clutch and had good results. Maybe I'll try that one.

You have not told us if you have an open radiator or closed?
what year is your jeep?
If your radiator is closed 84-89
I do suggest getting a open system radiator.
I had issues of running hot and replaced my water pump and t-stat and it did not help. So now i have a new water pump, new tstat, and open radiator and have had no issues lately. When i am wheeling it jumps to 210 but that is expected.
I would suggest a couple things before jumping to a new radiator.

-First thing i suggest is to do a radiator flush and a fan switch. Try this before replacing the water pump. Coolant is cheap enough and the fan switch should help a lot..
-If that does not help i suggest jumping to a new water pump and t-stat
-If you are Still running hot and your jeep is a 84-89 i suggest to buy an open system radiator.

Hope this helps man.

i would change your radiator water pump and fluid.. If your getting the 96 zj fan clutch its going to be loud and annoying.. I didnt notice any temp decrease at all.. You also will loose a little under a mile a gallon with the zj fan clutch.. I have to say the zj clutch makes the 4.0 a bit more beastly sounding though..

OK I have to jump in here and ask a question folks. I have an 89 Cherokee that I just got a few days ago. Much to my surprise I could not find a filler cap on the radiator. I see mention of open and closed radiators in this thread an am curious what is the difference between open and closed radiators??

It was between 210 and the next line, not sure if thats 220 or 230. Fan just constantly on and off. My old one never did this. Thats what has me thinking my fan clutch is bad. Just figured It's time to replace the rest of the cooling system because it's original. The rad actually looks to be brand new? The rest of it, water pump hoses and stuff are definitely the original stuff.

I need some understanding here. I have the same issue, temp goes up past 210, fan kicks on, temp guage drops down below 210. Then it does it all over again. How does a bad clutch fan cause this to happen? I know it shouldnt just eep jumping upand down like that but I really dont know.

I do. Mostly stop and go traffic. quite a few stop signs and lights on the way to work. But, when I drive highway speeds it seems to stay right at 210 without moving.
