It could be your crank positioning sensor. Look up how to test it on here.

i had the same problem with my 95 cherokee, found that it would be one of two problems, cam positioning sensor some call it a coil pick up its located under your distributer cap. thats the easy possibility. the other possibility is a crank positioning sensor located at the top of the bellhousing slightly to the driver side. this is more of a pain to get at and i would sugest new cap and rotor to if urs is old. my problem ended up being the crank sensor and with about 3 feet of extensions and a swivel socket i was able to replace the sensor

The Cam Positioning Sensor has nothing to do with spark. Check your Crank Positioning Sensor to rule that out.

Hey guys i took a shot in the dark today. I work at advance auto parts i picked up a coil to see if that would solve my issue and now she fires right up. But i did notice(and it only happend 2 times) but she would bog down and backfire in my air filter around 2,500 to 3,000rpm and die down. Almost sounds like spark plugs. Same issue with my last jeep i had. But other then that she ran great just wierd that it did that.
