Ever since i got it my jeep will run great for about two weeks, then for no reason the check engine light will come on and it will act weird. It drops down to about 200rpm sometimes even lower and it will bounce back and forth between 200-600 rpm and try to cut out. This only happens when im in gear sitting at a stop light or something. But recently it did it while driving. It wouldnt go over 1500rpm even with my foot on the floor and just went between 800-1500rpm until i pulled over and put it in neutral and put it to about 5000rpm. Then it went away for a short while then came back. I noticed if i shut it off completely it goes away. I'm just trying to figure out what it is. And suggestions?

 

When was your last tune-up? Sounds like a cps maybe?

 

It was tuned up by the previous owner but im not sure of the mileage, i just know it was two or three years ago. My only thought was it is maybe something with the injectors.

 

Take it to autozone and get the codes read off of it. free

could be a lot of different things, its good your getting codes though, I had a smiliar problem that ended up being a bad 02 sensor but it took over a month for it to throw a code for it
