Default Jeep tranny??

well... my jeep tranny took a crap. Fluid everwhere. poored out the back side of the tranny. was driving while pulling a empty MJ bed trailer. what trannys will fit? im tired of putting money into it. its a 1989 jeep cherokee xj auto, i6 motor. not sure what tranny is in it. i just put a motor in it and now my tranny went. revese was acting up and when i started it, it sounded like something was up with the flywheel. all bolts where tight.

what year is your parts jeep?
If its before 89 it proly has the POS Peugeot BA10/5. AW4 is a very cheap tranny to buy at a jy and really wouldn't take that long to swap.

no the harness is different, your looking in the range of an 87-91 xj the early to late 90's and 00 and 01 XJ had a different spline count at the tail end. I think the change year is 92.

they're not too hard to come by around me but thats Michigan...
