OK my Jeep won't run. I went to start it and the battery was dead. After jumping it it would only start with the pedal to the floor and died as soon as you removed your foot from the pedal. Then one of our friends tinkered with the cables and it started running for a little bit till the idle dropped and started running roughly. Then I put it in gear and drove and as soon as I take my foot off the pedal it dies. Worked fine this morning
any ideas?

I'm a cherokee n00b, but I had almost this exact same thing happen to me just the other week after letting my battery get low. Would start if I was pressing the gas, but as soon as I let off, it would die immediately. Was working fine that morning.

I charged the battery overnight to make sure it had a full charge, then the next morning I disconnected the cables, touched them both together for about 20 sec to clear the computer, and then hooked it back up. Whammo, everything was back to normal. Started and idled better than it did before!

It's worth a shot before you go ripping into stuff, hope it works for you too.

Thanks for the input. I wish I could try this but unfortunatly my jeep is about 45min away from my house right now. I couldn't get it home since it kept dying ;(
