As far as burning smell, I have the same smell, or one very similar to it. But its Only after I use my 4wd.
Ive over hauled my brakes, did complete fluid change up front, next (this week I hope, weather permitting) is a trans filter & fluid change and tc case fluid change.

I had this problem too until I drained and re-filled the TC. Turned out it was at least a quart low (PO was an idiot).

Well, I finally got my drums off and half of the NJ pine barrens fell out. I am thinking that might be my problem. The whole inside was caked with sand, and my adjusters were almost solid. I will know for sure if that was my rat pee problem when I get it all cleaned and back together.

burnt rat pee smell = New Jersey..... sounds about right to me

I think I am going to dig into my discs just to make sure. These were all new brakes in the past few months, I would hate to get them all jacked up

Its interesting that when I jacked the rear up and spun the tires I didnt feel any resistance. Once the wheels were off however I could hear and feel dragging from one side. Maybe the weight of the wheels??
