jeep shifting problem

Default jeep shifting problem

so i drive a 94 xj, it doesn't drive in D, i have to start in 1-2 and shift to 3 then to drive, the filter hasn't been changed in idk how long, could that be the only issue?

I'm certainly no tranny expert, but possibly burnt up solenoid(s)?

Don't worry too much about the "filter"...there isn't one. Just a coarse screen. The problem you describe is electrical, not hydraulic. Start by checking the fuse wrapped in the transmission harness near the TCU, under the dash.
