Default Jeep seems like it running too hot??

Ok so my temp gauge works fine (at operating temp its at about half way or lower), but when i pop the hood it jut seems like the heat produced from the motor is way too much? Maybe im wrong, but it just seems too hot. Like by the valve cover and where fuel rail is. The wiring harnes that runs next too valve cover gets real hot, not too hot to touch but very close too it. The valve cover and stuff is too hot to rest my hand on it for over 10 seconds.

Is this normal? could exhaust or intake be getting to hot?

At halfway it should be at 210. Of course it's going to feel hot.

If your temp gauge is in the 195-210 range, you're fine. Under the hood temps can feel pretty hot.

Never a bad idea to actually verify your coolant temperature by pointing an infrared point and shoot thermometer directly at the thermostat of a hot engine.

You can run hood vents if you don't want the heat to build up under the hood. Will make it run cooler too if your wanting that in the summer.

yea i understand 210 is hot... My point was could my EXHAUST be hotter then it should be causing extra heat in engine bay

Maybe from an exhaust leak or something. I have a minor leak at the down pipe. Where it comes off header and bolts too exhaust under truck.

Sorry must have misread, now I gotcha. No I don't think a leak could heat it up in fact it might cool it down since the heat is escaping. I'm pretty sure you have nothing to worry about. They run good hot anyways

Check your running temp with an IR thermometer on the thermostat housing while it's up to running temp. Raise the bak of the hood or do vents to cool the under hood temps.
