Default Jeep ran like an ox, now it won't start. Starter gone bad?

Bear with me while I describe what happened.

Before I would turn the key, engine would turn over slowly: Once....twice....three times....and then roar to life and run like a champ.

Then I accidentally left the interior lights on and drained the battery. The next morning I went out and tried starting it. It would not turn over at all, when I turned the key there was very fast clicking coming from the front.

I didn't have any time to fool with it so I let it sit a few days. I came back to it and by that time the battery was so dead it couldn't power the hood light. So I tried jumping it and now when I turn the key NOTHING happens except the normal movement of a few of the dash guages.

I replace the battery with a brand new one tonight with the same result. Has my starter gone bad?

it could be you can take it to auto zone and they test them for you but it sounds like the solenoid went out on it

So what I described sound like common symptoms for when a starter goes bad?
