I'm getting a 3 inch lift for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic. I am going to keep stock rims which are 16's. I'm gonna keep the rim. I have found some tires cheap that are 31x12.50x16. If i were to run theses kind of tires then would i have to do any trimming? Please help me.

 

minor. None to the any steel. only like a 3 inch chunk in the front wheels so you don't turning rubs.

When I flex my wheels all the way up I rub in the back, but its so rare and minor it's not really worth cutting.

What tires are they? some 31's can be the same size as 32's with enough tread.

 

Should be fine, may get a little rub on the control arms at full lock on the steering but fender clearance shouldn't be an issue. 7" rims with a 12.50 tire isn't the greatest combo but will work, I did it with 33s, just makes the tires a tiny bit taller and narrower. Must say I've yet to see any 31x12.50x16s. The type of tire will make a difference as well. Just because it says it's a 31 doesn't mean it won't be 30 or 32. Also MTs tend to rub a bit more than ATs due to side lugs.

I have the classic and it they usually come with the 16" rim. I've measured them. Alright thank you guys

 

Did you measure to the "bead seat area" or edge to edge?

 

For example: Pictured below is the diameter of the face of the rim next to the size on the tire wall. The face is 16" and the bead seat diameter is 15".

 

Yep, important to know what size rim you have. The easiest way I've found to check for what rim diameter you have is to just read the tire size. ( it gives you the rim diameter )
