Have a 92 cherokee and it was running perfect till last week I went to back out of the driveway put it into reverse and it just revved up and I didn't move then after a couple minutes It went into reverse and since then i have trouble going into reverse and now when I come to a complete stop in drive it will rev up then take off sometimes jerking real hard just wondering if anyone has an idea what it could be

 

have you checked trans fluid level lately, how long since tranny service?

Yeah the levels are all good and I have no idea bought the jeep a year ago haven't had the tranny serviced

 

give the fluid a sniff, does it smell burnt? you can try changing the fluid to see if it helps, if not sounds like the trans is slipping.
